Advances in DNA … We were able to capture more strands of DNA within samples. A tent had been recovered in the initial investigation. And so I asked for the tent to be re-examined … One hair with a root: we submitted that sample in July 2014. And in early September we got the result that the probability that it was anyone other than Nicola was one in the billion. ibid.
Mitochondrial DNA matched either Mary or Thomas O’Reilly … That linked the tent finally to Barwell and O’Reilly. ibid.

The anti-fascist protester Blair Peach was almost certainly killed by police at a demonstration in 1979, according to a secret report released today.
Documents published on the Metropolitan Police website shed new light on the death of Peach, a 33-year-old teacher from New Zealand, whose death marked one of the most controversial events in modern policing history.
