Of the 12 jury members at Triplett’s trial, 11 were white. The prosecution told them that Triplett was the aggressor and that Michael Corrado died needlessly at his hands. ibid.
The judge handed down the maximum possible sentence of 18 years in prison. ibid.
Having assessed Triplett’s trial, the Court of Appeals overturned his conviction. The Appeal Court ruling meant that Triplett would be granted a new trial. ibid.
