Monday 28th July 1986: Suzy had an appointment to show a house to a potential buyer at 12.45 … There was no sign of Suzy … The description was used to create a photofit picture of the man mentioned in Suzy’s diary, Mr Kipper. Who had abducted Suzy? ibid.
As well as looking for Mr Kipper, detectives were looking for a dark BMW car. ibid.
Michael Cannan: but the lead from Reading wasn’t pursued. It was marked No Further Action At This Stage. ibid.
On Thursday 8th October 1987 Shirley Banks, a 29-year-old clothes designer from Bristol, went missing after going shopping … The striking similarities between the two cases was soon headline news. ibid.
Cannan was also a suspect for the murder of 27-year-old office worker Sandra Court in Bournemouth in 1986. ibid.
In April 1989 Cannan had been convicted at Exeter Crown Court of several violent sexual assaults against women, including the rape in Reading … Cannan was also convicted of the murder of Shirley Banks. ibid.

All of that brings us back to the prime suspect that the Met Police themselves named, which is John Cannan. He is currently in prison for the abduction and murder of Shirley Banks. ibid.

28th July 1986: Suzy Lamplugh, 25, an estate agent, leaves her office at midday, her diary recording an appointment with Mr Kipper. She’s never seen again. ibid.
Aged 14, John Cannan committed his first sexual attack; more followed, culminating in an attack at a local precinct in 1981. ibid.
John Cannan was jailed for rape. After spending 5 years in prison he moed to Bristol and enrolled at a dating agency under a false name. ibid.
He tried to kidnap a woman near the Bristol waterfront but her screams forced him to run away. ibid.
Three weeks later, more than 100 miles away, in Lemington Spa, police arrest a man after he uses a knife to threaten a shop assistant: his name John Cannan. ibid.
The photofit of Mr Kipper, the man seen with a woman who looked like Suzy Lamplugh on the day she went missing, bore a striking resemblance to John Cannan. ibid.
After he was jailed for life for the murder of Shirley Banks in Bristol, and other violent sexual attacks, officers investigating the Suzy Lamplugh case questioned John Cannan in prison. ibid.
