★ Political Parties

A two-party system, the lesser of two dangers, the illusion of choice.  A veiled form of fascism where nothing really changes and you never had a choice.  Prince

The American political spectrum … Just how little disagreement there actually is within American politics.  America’s Stunted Political Spectrum, Youtube short 7.27, Second Thought 2020

There’s really not much separating the political candidates.  ibid.

Having such a limited pool of political stances to choose from has fostered a kind of team sports mindset in the US.   America’s Two-Party Corporate Duopoly, Youtube 10.49, Second Thought 2020

There is very little separating today’s elected Republicans and Democrats.  ibid.

The campaigns of both parties have devolved to ‘we’re not the other guy’.  ibid.

These two teams just happen to be owned by the same people.  ibid.

The Democratic Party may as well join them … A party that blocks movement to the left, passively accepts movement to the right, and sometimes even embraces conservatism outright.  How the United States Ended Up With Two Right-Wing Parties, Youtube 13.50, Second Thought 2021

American politics leans heavily to the right … minor aesthetic differences.  ibid.

They are not fighting like hell for the little guy, they are getting in his way.  ibid.

The Democrats of today begin looking a lot like yesterday’s Republicans.  ibid.

If you are ‘neither left nor right’, then you are definitely on the right.  Why ‘Neither Left Nor Right’ Just Means Right Wing, Youtube 16.49, Second Thought 2022

What the fuck is going on?  In simple terms the Democratic Party is literally funding far-right politicians.  Not just the opposition, not just any Republican, but the extreme wing of the GOP.  Why Are Democrats Funding the Far Right? Youtube 16.01, Second Thought 2022

These are actually two sides of the same political strategy coin.

Democrats are hoping that by making a bunch of far-right nutjobs win GOP primaries … moderate Republicans will by outraged and vote for a more centrist blue candidate … solidly left-wing voters will be similarly outraged and vote for the lesser of two evils out of necessity.  ibid.

One idiot is one idiot.  Two idiots are two idiots.  Ten thousand idiots are a political party.  Franz Kafka

We wanted to see what issues people were concerned with so with six months to go before election day we hit our own campaign trail.  What do people want from the president?  Philip Seymour Hoffman, The Party’s Over, 2001

‘There’s no representation of me, or you, or anyone in this room … Tokenism is going to drag us all to hell.’  ibid.  Ben Harper

‘Their role in democracy is to be spectators not participators in action.’  ibid.  Noam Chomsky

It’s easy not to care if you don’t know what’s going on.  ibid.

While some people were putting their bodies on the line, others were putting their cash on the line.  ibid.

Outside the Convention: the March for Economic Human Rights.  ibid.

While urban American’s were being driven into poverty by factories moving abroad, in rural America family farmers were being driven into poverty.

The real debate was taking place at the Shadow Convention.  ibid.

There were some issues that neither of the major candidates seemed to be talking about.  ibid.

‘You’re only supposed to care about yourself.’  ibid.  Noam Chomsky
