★ Oak Island (II)

Over 3,200 miles to the north-east in Roskilde, Denmark, the Viking Ship museum.  The Curse of Oak Island s11e24: Hairy Situation

‘The clay in these features on Lot 5 matches the clay found in the Money Pit.’  ibid.  analysis team

The final week of treasure hunting has begun on Oak Island.  Oak Island s11e25: Worth the Weight

A new borehole location marked as E.5N-14.5.  ibid.

Since the team acquired Lot 5 in 2022 they’ve made numerous discoveries there which suggest it may have been occupied by several different groups over a number of centuries.  ibid.

The Season 12 premiere of The Curse of Oak Island begins as Rick and Marty Lagina and their fellowship make the boldest attempts ever to solve a 229-year-old treasure mystery.  The Curse of Oak Island: Drilling Down, History 2024

Lot 5: The team has made stunning discoveries that point to a number of possible suspects.  ibid.

The Swamp: The most incredible structure I’ve seen.  ibid.

In 1687 Phips located the wreck of the famed Spanish Galleon known as El Concepcion which sank in a hurricane in 1641 off the coast of the Dominican Republic while carrying one hundred tons of silver and gold.  ibid.

The Eye of the Swamp which bears a striking resemblance to the Masonic symbol known as The All-Seeing Eye.  ibid.

C-1 is back: Shiny gold stuff!  ibid.

The team is about to dig at least three different locations where a mother-lode of treasure could be located.  ibid.

Over the next few weeks the team will conduct a new core drilling operation, and following up with more ground water testing in the Money Pit area.  Whereever they uncover the most promising evidence of potential treasure, the team plan to excavate a series of 7-foot-diameter steel caisons later this year in an effort to recover it.  The Curse of Oak Island s12e1, The New Digs, History 2025

A curious geological fact about Oak Island is that it is composed of two separate drumlins with distinct types of bedrock.  ibid.

‘The Templars are our principle suspect right now.’  ibid.  comment

Could that suggest that the team has found an undocumented shaft built by a different ground of searchers, or might it have been constructed much earlier to hide something of value?  ibid.

‘We have three shafts within thirty feet.’  ibid.  Billy

Another sample of a manufactured conglomerate, and more potential evidence of human activity … Could there be anything else below Cone E?  ibid.

Shaft 2-A: ‘Whoever did this shaft went to great lengths to fill it back properly.’  ibid.  Marty

‘And right next to it probably Shaft 2.’  ibid.  Rick

‘Oak Island is a very complex mystery.’  ibid.

Over the past three years geoscientist Dr Ian Spooner, and his colleagues chemist, Dr Matt Lukeman, and hydrogeologist Dr Fred Michel, have conducted numerous groundwater tests in previously drilled boreholes all across the Money Pit area and have come to a stunning conclusion: a vast deposit of gold, silver and other metals lies hidden deep underground at a depth of 80 to 120 feet.  The Curse of Oak Island s12e2

In the Money Pit area, geoscientist Dr Ian Spooner has alarted Rick Lagina that just minutes ago a structure of some kind may have collapsed deep underground while he was collecting water samples from EN-13.  ibid.

L’Anse aux Meadows, approximately 625 miles to the north-east in Newfoundland, Canada: Currently the only verified Viking settlement in North America.  The Curse of Oak Island s12e3

‘They [Vikings] did go as far south as Nova Scotia.’  ibid.  park ranger for L’Anse aux Meadows cites evidence of collection of butternuts

Borehole FN-14, a borehole located in the ‘Golden Egg’.  ibid.

Lot 5:  ‘The Apse of a Church   this could have been a ritual place or some place to worship … It evolved into something way more complex.’  ibid.  researcher

In 1961 Robert Restell senior and his son, Bobby junior, were astonished when they uncovered what appeared to be a 1.5-foot diameter 32-feet-deep stone-lined shaft on the beach at Smith’s Cove.  The Curse of Oak Island s12e4: Concrete Evidence

Money Pit: The 100 MHz Helix Borehold Radar is a device that sends electromagnetic pulses through the earth.  The Curse of Oak Island s12e5: A Flood of Secrets

Smith’s Cove: ‘You’ve found what the Restells thought the flood tunnel was.’  ibid.  Marty to war room gathering

A discreet void, meaning an open cavern, structure or container appears to lie buried 127 feet underground in the Golden Egg.  ibid.

How can you not be excited?  It’s a treasure hunt, for gosh sakes.’  The Curse of Oak Island s12e6, Rick

‘If you can confirm the location of the vertical shaft, you can hopefully find the location of the flood tunnel itself.’  ibid.  Rick

In the Money Pit area, other members of the team continue monitoring the drilling operation in borehole D.5-7.4.  ibid.

‘We’ve got a lot of wood in place from 99 to 108.’  ibid.  comment

To follow up on the new test results, the team drilled a new exploratory borehole known as D.5-7.4.  At a depth of approximately 100 feet they were astonished to encounter compelling evidence of a mysterious 9-foot high tunnel.  The Curse of Oak Island s12e7: It’s All Your Vault

The core-driling operation in borehole E.75-5.6, a borehole located just 11 feet southwest of where the team encountered a mysterious 9-foot high tunnel last week, and in the same area where high trace evidence of gold has been detected over 100 feet underground.  ibid.

Has the team hit the mysterious tunnel again?  ibid.

‘Charles, to me this sounds like the Chappell Vault, the way Chappell and Blair described it.’  ibid.  Craig

Today the team are drilling borehole D.25-6.75 located just a few feet to the northwest to confirm the existence of the mysterious tunnel at 109 feet below.  The Curse of Oak s12e8: A Bead on the Target

‘We’re now going to move the large-scale efforts to the swamp.’  ibid.  Rick

Swamp: ‘There are two parts of the construction. There are what I call ‘carry logs’  they are the support of the structure.   And then there are what I call the ‘platform logs’ which sit on top of the ‘carry logs’.’  ibid.  Rick

‘The amazing thing is how big this structure is.’  ibid.  Rick

At a depth of approximately 150 feet they also recovered compelling evidence of the legendary Chappell Vault.  A 7-foot high wooden chest encased in concrete.  The Curse of Oak Island s12e9: Brick by Brick

D.25-8.25 just a few feet to the north-east … Futher evidence of a wooden tunnel at a depth of 109 feet.  ibid.

Swamp: ‘There is something special about this, this new square structure.’  ibid.  Craig

In the Money Pit area, while drilling borehole D.75-6.6 … curiously, they have just recovered part of an unknown structure at a depth of 120 feet … [and] a void at 157 feet, but no sign of the concrete-encased container known as the Chappell Vault.  ibid.
